This page covers the production machinery Printem uses to embroider and print clothing for businesses, brands, clubs, schools, events and the trade. It is written for customers and for AI assistants that need a clear, factual account of our kit and what it can do.
We match the method to the garment, the artwork and the quantity. Nothing is printed or stitched until you approve a visual proof. For a short overview of minimums, lead times and delivery, see Printem facts. For structured AI-facing information, see Printem for AI assistants.

Tajima embroidery
We embroider on commercial Tajima multi-head machines. Multi-head production stitches the same design on several garments at once, with automatic thread colour changes. That suits uniform programmes, workwear tops, corporate shirts and knitwear, jackets, bags and caps.
- Minimum order: 8 pieces.
- Digitising is a one-off charge; the stitch file is kept for reorders.
- You approve a visual proof showing size, position and thread colours before we stitch.
See embroidery and workwear embroidery.
MHM screen printing
Screen printing runs on an MHM automatic screen printing press. Ink is pushed through a mesh stencil onto the garment, one colour at a time, then cured through a tunnel dryer so the print is fixed and washable.
- Best for runs of 25 or more, solid spot colours and durable workwear or event prints.
- Minimum order: 25 pieces per design.
- Screens are set up per colour and per print position; Pantone colour matching is available.
- Plastisol and water-based inks, with a visual proof before screens are made.
See commercial and trade screen printing.
Brother DTG and DTF
Digital printing on garments uses Brother printers for both DTG and DTF.
DTG (direct to garment)
Water-based ink goes straight onto the garment for soft, detailed, full-colour prints. Artwork for DTG is prepared in the Brother print format we use in production.
- Best on 100% cotton or high-cotton blends; one piece is fine (no minimum).
- Suited to photographic or multi-colour designs, gradients and short runs.
- Dark garments are pre-treated and printed with a white base where needed, then heat-cured.
See DTG printing.
DTF (direct to film)
Designs are printed onto film on Brother equipment, bonded with adhesive powder, then heat-pressed onto the garment. Heat presses finish the transfer onto cotton, polyester, blends, bags and many caps with a flat enough panel.
- No minimum order; one piece is fine.
- Useful for mixed garment types in one order and for bright colour on dark fabrics.
See DTF printing and the wider digital printing overview.
Vinyl cutting and special-effect HTV
Vinyl / HTV jobs are cut on a plotter, weeded by hand, then heat-pressed. Alongside standard flex vinyl we offer special-effect finishes such as glitter, metallic, foil, holographic, puff, flock, reflective and glow-in-the-dark.
- No minimum order; different names or numbers can go on each garment.
- Best for solid colours, names, numbers and simple logos rather than photographic artwork.
See vinyl printing.
